The van has arrived! Thanks to our community we have met our goal of buying a food transport vehicle.
The amount of food AIO can provide to individuals and families in Knox County, Maine, is limited only by the amount of food we can acquire. With this van, we anticipate we can significantly increase our food intake, and provide delivery service to homebound individuals.
Reducing food waste by recovering edible food is our highest priority. Our partners, including farms and supermarkets, hate to waste food but often they do not have the means or the labor to deliver food to our food pantry. This vehicle solves many logistical problems…all at once.
We are excited to have purchased a food van which now allows us to better serve the families in our community. Thanks to generous grants from the Hannaford Foundation, Good Shepherd Food Bank, the Maine Community Foundation, a generous anonymous donor, and numerous other individual donations we have met our goal.
We are grateful for donations to support the ongoing maintenance for the Van.
